Do you oversleep?

I do, on weekends, specifically the whole Saturday. Ever since I was transferred to night shift, I tend to oversleep on Saturdays. I sometimes even forget to eat dinner and just sleep it out. It seems that Saturdays don’t exist anymore.
And the effects? As I experienced, it’s basically the same as lack of sleep. I still feel dazed hours after I wake up. Also, aside from still feeling groggy after a long sleep, I feel guilty that I could have done something with the extra time I spent lying in bed.
How much time spent sleeping is considered enough? Is it the ideal eight (8) hours of sleep per day? Six (6) hours? Ten (10) hours?
Thanks for visiting!

1Hello Shane, the normal sleep should be 8 hours, that’s what I know. And yes you’re right, guilt always waving whenever we overslept. It’s the same thing with lack of sleep to, I tell you. I always felt like I am killing myself bit by bit by not giving myself a very good night sleep (read at least 8 hours.)
Thanks for dropping by btw.

3Right now, I’m sleeping at least 13 hours a day. Life of a bum. It’s gonna change soon when classes start on the 25th and I’m gonna start sleeping just 4 hours a night because of schoolwork. I have the worst sleep cycle, so I don’t really have any idea how much sleep is good enough hahaha.

4manilenya, thanks for droppin’ by too. ;) one weekend when we had a very long drinking session, i was able to sleep for about 20 hours or so. that’s 4 hours shy for a whole day! :(
Alfredo, it doesn’t affect your work productivity? Or you’re already used to it?
Juice, whoa! 13 hours a day? Gaining weight? *hehe*

9i used to sleep at least 7 hrs after work. now that im studying during the day and working in the evening, sleep has been a luxury for me. i barely have time to sleep. so during the weekends, instead of going out and stuff, i sleep. bummer.

14For grown-ups, except maybe for those who have nothing better to do than snore all day long, sleep definitely is a luxury modern lifestyles deprive them of. And so, I’m all for ten hours of sleep (or more, you could have siestas or power naps during the day). :-)
