At last, I finally saw The Bourne Ultimatum yesterday. I was really disappointed when it wasn’t released last August 3. I had to wait again for another two weeks but it was worth it. The movie never failed to impress me and I know most of those who’ve seen it feels the same way especially if you’re an avid fan of the series.
As with the previous Bourne movies, Ultimatum presents a strictly followed storyline. If you haven’t watched Identity and Supremacy, you can still follow through the movie but it would be more interesting if you have seen both the first two movies prior to seeing Ultimatum. It gives you the feeling you’re just watching the third episode of a short series instead of a full movie sequel as it is.
It is a very fast-paced movie which will make you glued to your seats for the whole duration of the movie, travelling from one international locale to another. You also barely have time to catch your breath because of the surveillance-evading tactics of Jason Bourne, thrilling bike and car chases, exhilarating ‘jumping from roof to roof’ sequences, and exciting hand-to-hand combat between assassins.
The Bourne Ultimatum is undoubtedly the best among the Bourne movies and among the best action blockbuster movies of 2007. I liked it better than Die Hard 4.0 but probably at the same level with Transformers. What do you think?
What I really love about the Bourne movies is that it doesn’t not depend on computer generated effects to capture the hearts of fans. It’s as real as it gets. The same applies to Bourne’s character. He doesn’t need fancy clothes, nice cars, hi-tech gadgets. He can defend himself with a newspaper, a pen or even a book! His every move is calculated and always a step-ahead of his pursuers! Makes you wanna be Bourne, huh?
Well, congratulations to Bourne. He finally found the answers he was looking for. It’s just so sad that with all the trilogies out there, it has to end. But who knows, there’s The Bourne Legacy and The Bourne Betrayal, which are written by a different author and as I’ve read, have a different storylines.
It still bothers me, who would win between Bourne and Bond?
Thanks for visiting!

4gbert, yeah, read some good reviews about it too. Life in Manila? Cost of living here is more than twice as much as in CdO. But I’m survivin’. Hehe
Alfredo, yup. In fact, I already included it on my post (last paragraph). As I’ve read, The Bourne Legacy has a different storyline. Bourne has kids with wife Marie, which is already dead in Supremacy. But who knows, somebody might consider it.
Beej, you should watch it. I know you’re a big fan of it too!
